IVCCD Nursing Programs Achieve Outstanding Board Pass Rates
MARSHALLTOWN – Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD) including Marshalltown Community College (MCC) and Ellsworth Community College (ECC), are thrilled to announce exceptional board pass rates for its Associate Degree (AD) and Practical Nursing (PN) programs, significantly exceeding state and national averages.
IVCCD nursing students demonstrated outstanding performance, achieving a remarkable 97.56% pass rate for the Associate Degree Nursing program, well above the Iowa average of 82.21% and the national average of 87.5%. The Practical Nursing program also excelled, with a 92.16% pass rate, surpassing both the Iowa average of 91.67% and the national average of 82.60%.
These impressive results highlight the dedication of IVCCD’s nursing faculty and the rigorous, hands-on training provided to students. The college’s commitment to creating a positive and safe learning environment, coupled with innovative teaching methods such as interactive learning and animated models, contributes to the students’ success.
“We are incredibly proud of our nursing students and faculty,” said Beth Johanns, Associate Dean of Health Occupations at IVCCD. “These pass rates are a testament to their hard work and the quality of education offered at IVCCD. We are committed to empowering our students to achieve their dreams and become successful healthcare professionals.”
In response to the growing demand for qualified nurses and to further support the community, MCC is excited to announce the launch of a Practical Nursing Diploma evening program starting in Fall 2025. This change will also lead to an Associate Degree evening program starting in fall 2026. This program will provide greater flexibility for working individuals seeking to pursue a career in nursing.
IVCCD’s nursing programs are designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to excel in the healthcare field. Through strong partnerships, including those with ATI, students receive comprehensive training that prepares them for success on their board exams and in their future careers.
