HIGH SCHOOL/GED/HSET TRANSCRIPT
A high school transcript needs to be translated and included in the information sent to the MCC Admissions Office.
PREVIOUS COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS
A transcript from each college previously attended must be provided; transcripts in any language other than English must be translated. These must be official transcripts sent directly from the previous college(s) to the MCC Admissions Office.
SEND US YOUR PROOF OF ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
TOEFL or a similar English proficiency test is required for admission to MCC; send your proof of English proficiency to the MCC Admissions Office. The list below provides information about other English proficiency evidence accepted by MCC for admission purposes. If your English proficiency exam is not on the list below, contact the MCC Admissions Office before submitting those results.
If you do not meet the listed minimum score, when you arrive at MCC, you will take the Michigan English Placement Exam to determine your level of English proficiency.
SEND US YOUR ACT/SAT/COMPASS/ACCUPLACER SCORES
Request that your official ACT, SAT, COMPASS or ACCUPLACER scores be sent to the MCC Admissions Office. Scores are used for placement in classes; they are not admissions assessments. In many instances, high schools make a record of scores and the scores are part of the high school transcript. Score results need to be within the last 5 years.
If you have not taken an ACT, SAT, COMPASS or ACCUPLACER within the last 5 years, when you arrive at MCC you will take ACCUPLACER math and writing placement assessments to determine course placement in those subjects.
SUBMIT YOUR HEALTH CERTIFICATE
Enclose a health certificate stating that you have no communicable diseases. Also provide proof of vaccinations for Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) from a doctor.
Also enclose a statement from your bank, on official bank stationery, stating that you have at least $15,228 (U.S. funds) in your accounts to pay for one year of college.
SUBMIT PROOF OF HEALTH INSURANCE
Health insurance for international students is mandatory and proof of insurance will be required before an I-20 is generated. MCC has partnered with International Student Insurance Group to provide inexpensive coverage. The website for MCC students to apply is internationalstudentinsurance.com. If you are already covered with another carrier, you will need to submit an explanation of benefits and proof of insurance policy.
LET US KNOW YOUR HOUSING PLANS
Planning to live on campus? Submit your application for student housing!
If you will not be living in student housing, you must submit a letter from a sponsor/host family indicating what they will provide to you for living arrangements OR a letter from you indicating you will be renting an apartment or staying with a friend/family member off campus.
Note: Certain degree programs have additional admission requirements. If you have questions as your start your journey to MCC, contact Vickie Unferth.
