Student Senate is the primary student government body on campus representing the student voice. The group is comprised of an executive board, student senators, and organization representatives. Elections for executive officers are held each spring. Senator elections are held in the fall. Organization representatives are appointed through their respective groups. Each organization must have Student Senate representation to be eligible to receive funding.

Student Senate sponsors several educational and social events throughout the year including Student Appreciation Day and various awareness events.

Student Senate also attends the Legislative Day at the Iowa State Legislature each year where students visit with representatives and senators about issues affecting the community colleges of Iowa.

Student Senate meets bi-weekly on Thursdays in classroom 508.  All are welcome to attend and voice their opinions and concerns.

Student Senate provides involved student leaders with an insight to governmental processes.  Student Senate membership may also be used for credit in GO299, Co-op Government.
