Meeting the demands for qualified nurses

MARSHALLTOWN – The demand for qualified nurses in the work force continues to grow and Iowa Valley Community College District is rising to the challenge to meet those demands with their students.
This semester enrollment in the IVCCD one-year Practical Nursing Diploma program has increased 20% since last year. While the two-year Associate Degree Nursing Program (RN) has remained steady. “This is a good sign,” commented Associate Dean of Health Occupations, Beth Johanns. “This means that our LPN students are continuing on to finish the RN program.”
Along with the increased enrollment, IVCCD is happy to announce the increase in successful board passage rates. Passage rates for IVCCD LPN students were at 92.8% and 93.33% for RN students. Both rates are higher than the National passage rates. The RN passage rate has seen a 17% increase in passage rates since 2021.
“The program is growing and heading in the right direction,” said Johanns. “We have an amazing team of instructors, and our grads are well sought after by area employers.”
