MCC’s Johnson selected for NASA Aerospace Scholars program

MARSHALLTOWN – Marshalltown Community College’s Morgan Johnson was accepted into the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) program.

Johnson was selected through a competitive application process and is one of only a few students chosen from Iowa. She will complete online work this fall with a chance to visit a NASA site early next year.

The National Community College Aerospace Scholars, or NCAS, program is an educational experience for community college students interested in exploring careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students apply the fall prior to the start of the program. Applications require students to write a short essay and to have a faculty reference. Following completion of the class, the program provides selected students with a four-day, in-person learning experience at a NASA center.

Students do not have to be majoring in aerospace engineering to apply. Students in all areas of STEM are encouraged to take part of this program!

“MCC is excited for Morgan to have such a great opportunity and we want to congratulate her on this great achievement,” commented Danielle Kness, MCC Biology Faculty.
