MCC announces new workforce-ready programs for Fall 2026

MARSHALLTOWN – Marshalltown Community College (MCC) is excited to announce the launch of five new academic programs designed to meet the evolving needs of Iowa’s workforce. Starting this fall, students can enroll in specialized tracks ranging from advanced manufacturing and construction management to unique animal sciences and human services.

These programs are tailored to provide students with rapid entry into high-demand careers through hands-on training, industry-relevant certifications, and flexible learning options.

Expanding the Horizon: New Program Highlights

Construction Management (Associate of Applied Science): Building on the success of MCC’s existing Construction Diploma, this new 2-year AAS degree offers a seamless pathway for students to advance their careers. The curriculum blends business and accounting with advanced construction coursework, preparing graduates for leadership roles such as construction managers or job site superintendents.

Animal Care and Management (Diploma & Certificate): In a major milestone for the region, MCC is introducing a program that is the only one of its kind in Iowa and one of just a few across the United States. These programs focus specifically on non-agricultural animals:

Animal Care Certificate: Provides foundational knowledge for the everyday care and training of pets, exotics, and wildlife.

Animal Care and Management Diploma: Covers advanced animal husbandry and facility management. This program is designed to integrate with Biology, Conservation Technology, or Zookeeping majors.

Robotics and Automation (Associate of Applied Science): To support Iowa’s growing advanced manufacturing sector, this program equips students with the technical skills to install, program, and maintain the complex robotic systems used in modern industry. Students will gain practical experience in state-of-the-art laboratories, preparing them for high-tech roles in systems integration.

Human Services (Diploma): Offered completely online, this diploma serves as a flexible entry point for students interested in social work. It covers core classes required for the social work transfer major and qualifies graduates for immediate roles as behavioral health technicians or crisis counselors, while providing a direct path toward a bachelor’s degree.
