MCC Alum to Exhibit Nature Inspired Artwork

Hallie-crouse-with-paintings MARSHALLTOWN, IA — Marshalltown Community College is proud to host a new art exhibition in the Ray Frederick Gallery featuring the work of alum Hallie Crouse. The untitled exhibit will open with a public reception on Wednesday, Jan. 21, from noon to 1:30 p.m., where visitors can meet the artist and view her collection. The show features a wide variety of media, ranging from pencil to acrylic, and will remain open to the public until it closes at noon on Friday, Feb. 13.

Currently the high school art and computer science teacher at East Marshall, Crouse has a deep-rooted connection to the arts and the MCC campus. Her artistic journey began as a young girl, inspired by a family of oil painters including her grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-aunt.

After starting her higher education at MCC and graduating as a proud alum, she went on to earn a degree in art education and graphic design from the University of Northern Iowa. Returning to the Ray Frederick Gallery is a significant milestone for her, as she recalls having an exceptional experience during her years as an MCC student.

The exhibit focuses largely on the artist’s love for nature, with a specific emphasis on Iowa wildlife. Crouse maintains that it has always been important for her to remain an active creator alongside her teaching career. She hopes that those who visit the gallery will find enjoyment in her portrayals of the natural world.

For those interested in taking a piece of the exhibit home, select works will be available for purchase. The Ray Frederick Gallery is open weekdays, 9 am – 5 pm. For further information about the gallery, please contact Tim Castle at Tim.Castle@iavalley.edu.
