Financial Aid Checklist
Step 1: Fill Out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and include MCC’s federal school code (001875).
Each year you will apply for federal grants, work-study, and loans with the FAFSA form. Our office uses your FAFSA data to determine your federal and state aid eligibility. After submission, you’ll receive your Student Aid Report (SAR) within 3-5 days from Federal Student Aid processing center.
Make sure you keep a record of your FSA User ID. You will use this ID each year you file a FAFSA and when you apply for any federal student loans.
Step 2: The MCC Financial Aid Office will receive your SAR within 7-10 days after it is processed. You will receive an email (email address you provided on your FAFSA Application) from the MCC Financial Aid Office indicating what forms are necessary for you to complete your financial aid package. You can use your student ID and password to track your financial aid process through the MCC Financial Aid Award System.
- Fill out a Financial Aid Information form.
- If your FAFSA application is selected for verification by the U.S. Department of Education, you will receive an email from VGCS@inceptia.org or postcard with information to complete your verification at https://www.verificationgateway.org/mcctigers2022.
- You will need to log in to the MCC Financial Aid Award System and review additional requirements from the MCC Financial Aid Office in the “Your Documents” tab.
Step 3: Your financial aid award will be processed after all documentation is received. This process can take up to six (6) weeks. The MCC Financial Aid Office will send you an award package via email.
Once you receive your award notification via email, you need to go to the MCC Financial Aid Award System and accept/decline your student loans. Grant funding is accepted for you. Keep in mind that if you were awarded student loans you can decline all or part of those loans.
All students who are requesting a student loan will need to fill out a Student Loan Authorization form and complete the Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note at www.studentloans.gov. You will need your FSA User ID to complete.
Step 4: Continue to monitor your financial aid status through MCC Financial Aid Award System for any additional requests by the Financial Aid Office.
