Welcome to Marshalltown Community College!

Students from all over the world have been coming to Marshalltown for many years. In fact, Marshalltown Community College has the highest percentage of international students of any community college in Iowa! The first time you step on campus, you will feel like part of a family that supports and helps you. Faculty, staff, and the community will help make your stay a memorable and rewarding experience. Not only will you be immersed in American culture, but you will also learn about other cultures from the variety of international students in your classes. You will have many questions as you plan your studies at MCC. A complete list of requirements is shown below.

Follow these steps!

COMPLETE OUR INTERNATIONAL APPLICATION
Fill out the international online application for admission.
*International Application Fee: $50 (covers postage, airport or bus station pick-ups, travel to cultural events and travel to medical and personal appointments; is non-refundable)

HIGH SCHOOL/GED/HSET TRANSCRIPT
A high school transcript needs to be translated and included in the information sent to the MCC Admissions Office.

PREVIOUS COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS
A transcript from each college previously attended must be provided; transcripts in any language other than English must be translated. These must be official transcripts sent directly from the previous college(s) to the MCC Admissions Office.

SEND US YOUR PROOF OF ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
TOEFL or a similar English proficiency test is required for admission to MCC; send your proof of English proficiency to the MCC Admissions Office. The list below provides information about other English proficiency evidence accepted by MCC for admission purposes. If your English proficiency exam is not on the list below, contact the MCC Admissions Office before submitting those results.

If you do not meet the listed minimum score, when you arrive at MCC, you will take the Michigan English Placement Exam to determine your level of English proficiency.

SEND US YOUR ACT/SAT/COMPASS/ACCUPLACER SCORES
Request that your official ACT, SAT, COMPASS or ACCUPLACER scores be sent to the MCC Admissions Office. Scores are used for placement in classes; they are not admissions assessments. In many instances, high schools make a record of scores and the scores are part of the high school transcript. Score results need to be within the last 5 years.

If you have not taken an ACT, SAT, COMPASS or ACCUPLACER within the last 5 years, when you arrive at MCC you will take ACCUPLACER math and writing placement assessments to determine course placement in those subjects.

SUBMIT YOUR HEALTH CERTIFICATE
Enclose a health certificate stating that you have no communicable diseases. Also provide proof of vaccinations for Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) from a doctor.

SUBMIT YOUR FINANCIAL STATEMENT
Financial Statement Form (EN ESPANOL) verifying ability to meet ALL educational and living expenses that you will incur while attending MCC.

Also enclose a statement from your bank, on official bank stationery, stating that you have at least $15,228 (U.S. funds) in your accounts to pay for one year of college.

SUBMIT PROOF OF HEALTH INSURANCE
Health Insurance will be added to student accounts once they arrive on campus. For more information, please email Vickie Unferth.

LET US KNOW YOUR HOUSING PLANS
Planning to live on campus? Submit your application for student housing!

If you will not be living in student housing, you must submit a letter from a sponsor/host family indicating what they will provide to you for living arrangements OR a letter from you indicating you will be renting an apartment or staying with a friend/family member off campus.

Note: Certain degree programs have additional admission requirements. If you have questions as your start your journey to MCC, contact Vickie Unferth.

Please send all of the above materials together at ONE TIME. It will be less expensive and more efficient for processing. NO ACTION WILL BE TAKEN on your application until all of the above items have been received. Use this checklist (EN ESPANOL) to help you make sure you have all the information you need to apply to MCC. If you are an F-1 transfer student, additional steps are outlined on the checklist.
