MARSHALLTOWN – The Marshalltown Community College (MCC) Foundation is proud to announce the awarding of the Medina Scholarship, now in its 11th year of supporting MCC students in their pursuit of higher education and the American Dream.

Established by Mr. Alfonso Medina and family, the Medina Scholarship is unique in its selection process. Applicants are asked to write an essay describing what the American Dream means to them, and Mr. Medina personally reads each submission and selects the recipient based on their essay.

“This scholarship is especially meaningful because it centers on students’ stories, aspirations, and determination,” said Elizabeth Wise, Executive Director of the MCC Foundation. “Mr. Medina’s personal involvement and commitment to reading every essay speaks to his dedication to helping students achieve their dreams through education.”

The scholarship reflects Mr. Medina’s belief in the transformative power of education and his desire to help students overcome barriers and create opportunities for themselves and their families.
