Iowa Valley Grinnell Phi Theta Kappa inducts new members

GRINNELL – Twenty-one Iowa Valley Community College Grinnell students were inducted into the Beta Sigma Chi chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society Wednesday, May 7.

The new PTK inductees are, by hometown/high school:

  • BGM – Paul Chalupsky, Addison Day, Dakota Heishman, Macey Heishman, Tate Martin, and Tucker Wright.
  • Grinnell – Timothy McCombs, Isaac Rhinehart, and Sarah Sanchez.
  • Keota – Samuel Greiner.
  • Montezuma – Samantha Bos, Ellen Cook, Elizabeth DeJong, Kohen Holland, Haileah Eichenberger, Kylee Larmore, Kami Mathes, Ava Pargeon, Harlea Pargeon, Jordan Ranfeld, and Taylor Wilcox.

Inductees were escorted into the ceremony by Matt Ostrander, IVG Gunsmith Technology instructor. Ashtyn Beek, Dean of Iowa Valley Grinnell, welcomed those in attendance along with PTK Advisor, Barb Hall. Lucas Shepard, IVG English Faculty, presented the new inductees.

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi, is the largest honor society in American higher education with 1,275 chapters on college campuses. More than 2.5 million students have been inducted since its founding in 1918. Phi Theta Kappa is recognized by the American Association of Community Colleges as the official honor society of two-year colleges.
