Marshalltown Community College Delays Classes After Derecho
Tuesday / August 18, 2020
On Monday, August 10, a devastating storm-ravaged Marshalltown, Grinnell, and other communities in Marshall, Poweshiek, and Tama Counties. Many of our local school district partners, our community neighbors, and employees are still without power and facing home and property damage and cleanup. As a result, Marshalltown Community College, which includes Iowa Valley Grinnell, the campus made the decision to delay class to accommodate storm recovery efforts.
“So many of our current and incoming students are assisting with storm clean-up efforts. Many are without power and internet access,” said Chancellor Kristie Fisher. “We are making this decision to alleviate their concern, and allow them to focus on the task in front of them.”
