Marshalltown Community College and Iowa Valley Grinnell Fall 2020 semester plans
Friday / July 24, 2020
MARSHALLTOWN – Marshalltown Community College (MCC) and Iowa Valley Grinnell (IVG) have been diligently working to produce a plan for the upcoming Fall 2020 semester. The current plan is for students to return to campus starting August 24 with the majority of classes being held face-to-face.
In cases when social distancing can not be implemented for specific classes, they will be offered as a hybrid class. Hybrid classes will have students in the classroom for a portion of their classes and the other portion through virtual instruction. MCC/IVG will still offer an Associate of Arts degree that can be taken completely online. “If a student is not comfortable coming to campus, there are a variety of programs still offered online,” commented MCC Dean of Enrollment and Student Life, Angie Redmond.
Face-to-face classes have been adjusted from past years. There will be a smaller number of students in each class as well as social distance seating in class. “Our first concern when creating a plan for the upcoming semester was for the safety of our students, faculty and staff,” commented Redmond. “Feedback that we received from students during the Spring 2020 semester is that they prefer learning in person and we wanted to do everything we can to try and safely make that happen.”
