Phi Theta Kappa collects mitten/hat donations

Phi Theta Kappa collects hats/mittens for kids

MCC Phi Theta Kappa members Jared Bowman (Chapter Vice President), Kaylee Howe, Pele Waddilove (PTK Chapter Advisor) and Luis Guajardo are pictured with donations of gloves/mittens and winter hats given to young children in need.

Members of Marshalltown Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa honor society chapter collected 111 pairs of gloves/mittens and 40 hats for preschool to 5th grade students in the Marshalltown area. The mitten/hat drive, sponsored by PTK as a commitment to the honor society hallmark of Service, ran Nov. 28 through Dec. 8; the majority of the donations came from PTK advisors and members.

The donations were delivered last week by PTK members to the Child Abuse Prevention Services office in Marshalltown, which will distribute the items to children in need.
