IVGrinnell to host Haunted Halls of Horror Oct. 27-28

The Iowa Valley Grinnell (IVG) Student Activity Council is hosting its first-ever Haunted Halls of Horror at the IVG campus on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27 & 28, from 7 to midnight. The event is open to the public, and admission is $5 per person.

The Haunted Halls will include ghosts, zombies and gore galore, so that part of the event is not recommended for small children.

For younger ages, the Iowa Valley Grinnell Phi Theta Kappa students will offer a special kid-friendly area with games and activities. Activities will include pumpkin painting or cookie decorating and face painting, beanbag toss, ring toss, and other games.

On Friday only, the Marshalltown Community College Ecology Club will be on hand to sponsor a Zombies vs. Plants Game for ages 12 and older. Prizes will be awarded, and the cost to participate in the game will be an additional $2.50 per person.

For another $1 (only Friday night) participants can enjoy a bowl of chili, crackers and a beverage.

“Our staff and Student Activity Council are excited about sponsoring this fun event, and we hope there’s a great turnout of people of all ages,” says Jodi Blackford, event coordinator. “We encourage everyone to wear a costume, but that’s not required. It will be a fun and unique opportunity to celebrate Halloween a little bit early with friends and family. We hope it’s a tradition that might even become an annual event!”

Admission to Haunted Halls of Horror is $5 per person, and it’s non-refundable.
