University of Iowa academic advisors at IVGrinnell Nov. 15 & Dec. 14
Thursday / November 3, 2016
Interested students can schedule academic advising meetings with representatives from the University of Iowa on Tuesday, Nov. 15, and Wednesday, Dec. 14, between 5:30 and 7:30 pm. If there is sufficient interest, the University of Iowa will begin offering UI classes on the Iowa Valley Grinnell campus beginning in January 2017.
Appointments are required for the Nov. 15 and Dec. 14 advising sessions. To make an appointment, call Iowa Valley Grinnell at 641-236-0513.
This offering is due to the work of a group representing the University of Iowa, three community colleges, major employers from a several-county radius, economic development agencies, and municipal leaders in a five-county area who have collaborated to bring University of Iowa classes to Grinnell.
The University of Iowa plans to offer “hybrid” classes combining online coursework (which would provide students flexibility to study from home) and in-person interaction, with the initial face-to-face component on the Iowa Valley Grinnell campus. Books will be available for sale at the Grinnell College Pioneer Bookstore, and students will be able to take advantage of academic support at the community college campus.
If the interest reaches the minimum enrollment threshold, classes could start in January 2017. Classes offered, while yet to be finalized, will likely serve a range of business-oriented programs which may include courses in the following tracts: Bachelor of Liberal Studies, Bachelor of Applied Studies, Bachelor of Business Administration or Certificate of Leadership Studies. The Iowa Valley Grinnell campus will be used for all face-to-face classes until a more permanent site in Grinnell is established.
