Cyber Seniors computer skills workshop Nov. 16

Next month Marshalltown Community College will host a computer skills workshop catered specifically for senior citizens. Cyber Seniors: Computer Skills Workshop will take place on Monday, Nov. 16, from 11 am – 2 pm on the MCC Campus, 3700 South Center Street, Marshalltown.

Guests can use the Main Admissions Entrance, and then follow the hallway to Computer Lab 213, where the class will take place.

Cyber Seniors is an on campus Service-Learning project led by MCC instructors Marie Sheneman and Savitha Pinnepalli. This project will provide 1:1 computer skills training to mature adult participants by partnering them with a college student mentor. The sociology students from Marie Sheneman’s course will conduct the assessment to identify the current skills of each participant and Savitha Pinnepalli’s computer science students will provide customized computer skills training for each participant based on their needs.

This is a FREE opportunity for those who need assistance learning computer skills. Space is limited to 24 participants, so sign-up today if you are interested. Participants will receive a certificate of completion along with a data storage device and other materials.
