Cedar Valley Chamber Music (July 22)
Cedar Valley Chamber Music
Saturday, July 22 • 7 pm
Now in its 12th season, Cedar Valley Chamber Music (CVCM) is dedicated to using creative programming and the portable nature of chamber music to create new audiences for classical music. With an emphasis on resident and native Iowa musicians, CVCM performs over 20 concerts in a 10-day period around Northeast and Central Iowa.
As part of its 2017 festival theme “Shall We Dance,” CVCM will be headlining at the Orpheum Theater Center on July 22 to present a program entitled “Dirty Dancing: Then and Now.” The program includes Mozart operas arranged into waltz music, a piece about dirty boots, music about boxing with the past, and a re-imagining of the four seasons if it were composed in Argentina.
- Josef Lanner: Die Mozartisten Walzer, Op. 196
- Osvaldo Golijov: Last Round
- David Bruce: Gumboots: Dances for clarinet and string quartet
- Astor Piazzolla: The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires
This promises to be a colorful evening of music from around the globe! We hope you can join us for this memorable evening of music!
