Blues & BBQ
Saturday, Oct. 13, 6-9:30 pm
at the Iowa Valley Continuing Education Center, Dejardin Hall (3702 S. Center St., M’town)
Tickets are $30 each; includes BBQ meal
The Orpheum’s third annual Blues & BBQ will be in a different location this year, but the food will be just as spicy and the music just as hot! This year’s featured artists are The Blue Dog Band and Bob Dorr & The Limestoners. The Blue Dog Band is Iowa City’s very own old school blues band, which performs the classic sounds of Howlin’ Wolf, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, and Little Walter, along with the more modern fare of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Bob Dorr & The Limestoners are a newer group, but the musicians themselves have been entertaining Midwesterners for years with the blues as they’re meant to be played. Between the two groups, you’ll hear multiple master blues musicians, including members of the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame!
The evening will conclude with a final set featuring both bands!
- Dinner served at 6 pm
- The Blue Dog Band will performs 6:30-7:45 pm
- Bob Dorr’s Limestoners performs 8-9 pm
- Both bands together 9-9:30 pm
Given the dinner aspect of this event, the Orpheum would greatly appreciate reserving tickets in advance. There’s little need to worry about our selling out – this is a big conference center room. But we want to control how much food we sell, so let us know! Call 641-844-5920 to reserve tickets. Persons buying tickets the day of the show are likely, but not guaranteed, to be offered food.
