Blue Christmas (Dec. 16)
Saturday, Dec. 16
7 – 9 pm in the Black Box Theater ($25 per ticket, limit 100 tickets)
Don’t miss this special Farewell Tour performance by Bob Dorr & the Blue Band! They’re back in Marshalltown by popular demand, and this Blue Christmas special will be one you don’t want to miss, particularly since the band will no longer be performing after this month.
Bob Dorr reports that 10 Blue Christmas songs (7 original) will be sprinkled among Blue Band originals from the 36-year recorded history of Bob Dorr and the Blue Band, plus some fan favorites. This will be presented by the same 7-piece band that played outside the Orpheum Theater Center in Marshalltown this summer … “along with a few Marshalltown local music heroes sittin’ in!”
Ending a 30-year run, the Blue Band has opened shows for B. B. King, Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Bobby Rush, Robert Cray, Roomful of Blues, Tower Of Power, Leon Russell, Duke Robillard, Maria Muldaur, Little Charlie & The Nightcats, Asleep At The Wheel, and many others. Career highlights include a 25-year run at the Iowa State Fair, five appearances at the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival, and two appearances at the Kansas City Jazz & Blues Festival. The Blue Band has also appeared on the internationally distributed Beale St. Caravan radio show, produced by the Blues Foundation in Memphis.
Tickets can be purchased in advance by contacting the Orpheum Theater Center, or at the door on the night of the performance (only if not already sold out). Please note that Season Tickets cannot be used for this performance.
