Iowa Valley Grinnell hosts April 5 blood drive

blood drive graphicIowa Valley Community College Grinnell will host a Community Blood Drive on Thursday, April 5, from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm on the east side of the campus at 123 6th Ave. West, Grinnell. Donors are encouraged to contact the IVG front desk at 641-236-0513 to reserve a timeslot for their donation.

“The more people who commit to donation timeslots ahead of time during this blood drive, the longer the bus will be able and willing to stay here on campus,” explains Jodi Blackford, IVG Student Services Office Associate.

According to the LifeServe Blood Center website, blood donations from healthy, volunteer donors are vital to maintaining the blood supply in every community. The donation process, which takes about 45 minutes, includes registration, donor history screening, donating blood, and a short recovery period with a snack afterward.

LifeServe Blood Center serves the Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Skiff Medical Center in Newton, UnityPoint-Marshalltown, and many other hospitals in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.
