Marshalltown Community College is gearing up to celebrate Medical Assistants Recognition Week Oct. 16-20, as designated by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Medical assistants across the country will be recognized during this special week and honored on Medical Assistants Recognition Day, which is Wednesday, Oct. 18.
In celebration of Medical Assistants Recognition Week, MCC has planned to recognize its Medical Assisting students and faculty.
“Medical Assisting is among the fastest growing health professions in the nation, a trend that is predicted to stay in place through 2024,” says Dee Lynk, CMA (AAMA), A-C, ST, AGS, Coordinator of Medical Assisting at both MCC and Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. “Our goal is to educate all health professionals about the capabilities of medical assistants.”
Medical assisting is an allied health profession whose practitioners function as members of the health care delivery team and perform administrative and clinical procedures. With their unique versatility, medical assistants are proving to be the allied health professional of choice for this decade and beyond. In fact, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical assisting continues to be projected as one of the fastest growing occupations.
The AAMA is the premier organization serving the professional interests and educational needs of medical assistants. It provides numerous services that help medical assistants put their careers on a successful and rewarding track and keep them there.
